NOSH was set up in 1989 by Mike Fletcher.

"For so many years I was frustrated with the same old sandwiches. One day I'd have a cheese and pickle sandwich, then then next day I'd have a cheese and egg sandwich.

What I really needed was some variety in my life. So why I thought "Why not set up my own sandwich shop!" and so that's what I did."

Armed with his own knife and 4 slices of bread, Mike set up his own sandwich shop in June 1989.

Of course, there were a few of the usual mishaps along the way.

"In July 1989, we caused a little bit of a Leptospirosis outbreak across the whole of Hampshire, but luckily no one died.

...and then there were those silly E. coli incidents in 1990 and 1994, but I guess we all go through those sort of things, don't we?"

And the rest, as they say, is history.
